Player of the whatever. Play me boy!
For the third time in a row, my good friend Mickey C has become the Home Series of Poker Player of the Year after winning the big final last week. He also won the first FCOOP Player of the Championship title, so has gathered some nice accomplishments. Congrats, but also: yeah whatever. Most of these things have so much variance that luck in the end determines who takes it down. Even if you win ten more of these, which you won’t, I’ll still play you every day. And I hope you will play me too.
The numbers are nice: 2 TPC titles, 6 HSOP’s, 3 HSOP POTY, 4 FCOOP’s, 1 FCOOP POTC, a Forumblik Championship title. Nice, but on the other hand: you won 6 HSOP’s, but finished second 7 times. Even a greater feat? I don’t know, it means you lost more than half of your heads-up duels. And the ones you won, were five boring ones (Stud, Stud8, Razz, HORSE and RSE) and one you got very lucky (HA with rebuys).
I won 5 HSOP’s and finished second only 1 time, against NeoNielz who was more lucky than good. In total I played Mickey only heads-up twice for a HSOP title and won two times. Both were in 2009: the omaha8 championship and the no limit hold’em championship. During the FCOOP, I only ended up heads-up with Mickey one time: during the omaha8 event. I, yet again, won.
So yeah, he won a lot of stuff, but never against me. That’s why I’m challenging my good friend the Player of Everything and more to some heads-up poker. We did this once a couple of months ago. We played four variants (2-7 triple, plo, o8 and nlhe I think) and I came out on top. Let’s do this again, but bigger and better.
Maybe I should ask for odds with all your titles, but let’s just do it straight without any advantages. Heads-up poker, deep stack and cash. No special blind increases so it ends up being a flippament. You can choose what we play: nlhe, plo or a mix of both. Let’s just say we play at least three hours three times in 2012 with a reset each time and you need to reload when you go under 100 bb’s. The rest is open for discussion. Open for it? Let me know. Not? No problem, we’ll stay friends.
