Diamonds aren’t only a girl’s best friend…

It’s been a while, I know. Busy times means almost no time for poker and no time for writing posts here. I played poker only twice in the past few weeks. Everything has been busy with work and holidays. I played two cashgames in the past few weeks. The first went bad, the second went good.

Actually the first cashgame was a No Limit Hold’em game with most of our senior members of the group. Jeroen, Stijn, Niels, Jessica, Thomas and I sat down for a little bit of fun and games. I played really well in the beginning. Bluffing, making the right moves and just running great as well. I nearly trippled my starting stack, which is just awesome in a cashgame. And in the last fifteen minutes of my pokernight I just gave it all back. I was bored and sleepy and started donking it all away. Especially right back into the hands of Stijn Heyens. Ironically that was were I got my winnings from in the first place. Bluh good night ending in bad play.

But then again last friday made up for that. I’ve already told you about Thomas’ heads up challenge. And last friday we played our first three hour session. Straight Heads Up No Limit Hold’em with a rebuy if you slip below 100 bb’s.  I started out great got some chips of Thomas and when he got it in with top pair I called with a King high flushdraw. Thomas’ hand held and we traded chipstacks. No problem I told myself. Just stay on your game and everything will work out. And so it did.

I grinded my stack back up and eventually took the lead. In the last ten minutes of our first session Thomas had to reload which brought his stack to about 2/3 of mine. And that’s just when all hell broke loose… I held KQ of diamonds and apparently Thomas was helding pocket Aces. Thomas raised, I reraised and he called. Flop: two diamonds with the Ace of diamonds. I checked and Thomas bet. I called. Turn a blank. I bet he raised and I shoved, putting him all in. He called with top set (ofcourse). We decided to run it twice. And as you might have guessed by the title of this post I binked it twice.

That was kinda lucky, but apart from that final hand I was already winning, so this just extended my lead. Now I can begin play in our next session with a comfortable lead. I told you it wasn’t going to be easy!
